Well, since last time plenty has been happening… This weekend we had some time off, so we spent Friday celebrating Bob Marley’s birthday at a special event at Band on the Wall in Manchester. It was a soul shakedown party to remember! We were missing Henry Crab cos he’s off in Spain with his family, but even from the snow tipped mountains of Bilbao he could surely sense the skanking vibes emanating from the steamy venue that night.
Elsewhere we played in Stockport with Purple Merlin and Grand Arcadia a couple of weeks back… It was fun to see the Arcadia boys again, top guys with a very cool sound, but to we five Purple Merlin virgins, this new band were a revelation! They do Electric Wizard better than Electric Wizard do, and they range around the vibes of Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age too. Insanely chilled guys as well.
Last week was pretty mad; we went to Amsterdam for a few days on a whim, to celebrate our own rastamans birthday, Mr Banks. 19 years young, one might observe that the city took his innocence… We spent an enlightening afternoon at Electric Ladyland, the museum of electric light. We were shown round by a crazy diamond who told us about his experiences watching Hawkwind and meeting Jimi Hendrix’s brother Leon.
Grauzone festival was cool, but shall we say less than memorable… Cafe Alto had some groovy jazz… Lots of coffee was consumed… And since we have been back in the country we’ve had some great news. We’ll be playing this year’s Threshold festival in Liverpool! All that’s left to say is look to the sky when you’re feeling alone, and if you wanna feel high on life, take a long walk at night. But be careful… Lots of love, F x
